Tel Aviv with kids: what to do, with prices and hours

Tel Aviv with kids is easy: the Steinhardt natural history museum (recommended from age 5, free under 5), the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (free under 18), Yarkon Park with its boating lake and playgrounds, the port boardwalk and the beaches, and air-conditioned play centers for the heat. Most of it is open on Saturday, when the city does not shut down. Updated 2026-10-27.

Museums that work for children

Steinhardt Museum of Natural History (Klausner 12, Ramat Aviv, on the university campus): Israel’s natural history collections, with 17 terrariums of live insects and halls on the web of life and urban nature. Recommended from age 5. Tickets 52 ILS, a family ticket (up to 4) 168 ILS, free under 5 (you still need a 0 ILS ticket); tickets are sold online only, for a time slot, and Saturday visits are capped, so book ahead.

Tel Aviv Museum of Art (Shaul HaMelech 27): children and teens under 18 enter free, and there are family workshops. Hours: Monday, Wednesday and Saturday 10:00–18:00, Tuesday and Thursday 10:00–21:00, Friday 10:00–14:00, closed Sunday.

ANU, Museum of the Jewish People and Eretz Israel Museum (MUZA), both in Ramat Aviv, have interactive exhibitions, a planetarium (MUZA) and family programs on Saturdays; under 5 is free at ANU. The Palmach Museum (from age 6, booking required) tells the story of the 1940s underground as a walk-through experience.

Parks, playgrounds and the beach

Yarkon Park (Ganei Yehoshua) is the city’s backyard: playgrounds, lawns, a boating lake, the tropical garden, a bird park and a petting zoo, all free and open all day. Menachem Begin Park, Gan Meir and Edith Wolfson Park have big shaded playgrounds. The port boardwalk and the beaches from the port down to Jaffa are flat, stroller-friendly and full of ice cream.

Hot or rainy day: indoor play

Tel Aviv has dozens of air-conditioned play centers (משחקיות): indoor playgrounds with slides and ball pits for ages 1 to 8, trampoline parks and ninja courses for older kids. You pay per child, parents enter free or for a token fee, and socks are required. Most are open on Saturday.

Shows and story hours

Children’s theatre in Tel Aviv is mostly in Hebrew: the Orna Porat Theatre plays at the Eretz Israel Museum halls, mostly Saturday mornings, with an exact age range for each show (tickets around 61–75 ILS), and the Park Theatre plays in Yarkon Park. The city libraries run free story hours almost every day at 17:00, in Hebrew, with occasional English-language sessions.

What is open on Saturday

Unlike much of Israel, Tel Aviv stays open on Shabbat: the museums above (except those closed Sunday), the play centers, the parks, the port and the beaches. Public transport is limited (city Shabbat bus lines run), so plan on walking, cycling or a taxi.

The live board (in Hebrew)

Our Hebrew board lists every children’s event in Tel Aviv-Yafo by day, with age, price and a registration link, and every place to go with kids with hours, “open now” and Saturday: פעילויות לילדים בתל אביב and מקומות לבלות עם ילדים. The cards are in Hebrew, but the dates, times, prices and maps are not.
